Following the direction of the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, the Ha Long Bay Management Board has organised an intensive garbage collection campaign in Ha Long Bay.
They have requested garbage collection contractors to add six more vehicles for garbage collection and transportation and arrange additional equipment for loading and transporting garbage from Ben Doan Port to the collection point for processing.
The Ha Long Bay Management Board has also sent requests to the Ha Long Tourist Boat Association and other organisations and individuals operating tourism services in the bay to cooperate in collecting garbage and cleaning Ha Long Bay.
Additionally, the Ha Long Bay Management Board has mobilised maximum human resources, equipment and vehicles from the board, various organisations and the community to participate in collecting garbage from the island bases in Ha Long Bay.
From September 14-23, the total amount of garbage collected was 643 cubic metres (mainly bamboo and foam buoys) and 94 aquaculture rafts.
After the intensive garbage collection campaign, the tourist areas in Ha Long Bay have been cleaned and prepared to welcome tourists.
However, Ha Long Bay covers a large area with many rocky islands and complex meteorological and hydrological conditions, making garbage collection and environmental cleaning challenging.
In some coastal areas of Ha Long Bay, such as the Tuan Chau - Dai Yen and Quang Yen areas, there are still remnants of bamboo rafts and foam buoys that have been washed ashore by waves.
