Quang Ninh hosts assorted activities to celebrate 60th founding anniversary

A wide range of activities are being held in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province, to celebrate the province’s 60th founding anniversary (October 30, 1963 - 2023).

Projects in celebration of Quang Ninh Province’s 60th founding anniversary

In 2023, along with continuing to accelerate the progress of key projects, Ha Long City authorities launched four city-level projects in celebration of the Quang Ninh Province’s 60th founding anniversary, the 60th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to Ha Long City (November 23, 1963 - 2023), and the 30th anniversary of Hong Gai Town becoming Ha Long City (December 27, 1993 - 2023).

Of the four projects, two have been completed and put into operation, including the coastal road connecting Ha Long City with Cam Pha City, and the Ha Long City Administrative Centre, which were inaugurated on April 30 and September 15, respectively.

As of September 28, 35 out of 53 projects have been completed in 29 communes and wards in Ha Long City to mark the 60th founding anniversary of Quang Ninh Province.

The city’s authorities are making every effort to complete the remaining two projects, which are the project on upgrading, renovating and expanding a road from the intersection of the Ha Long-Van Don highway overpass in Trai Me Village (Son Duong Commune) to Dong Tra village (Dong Lam Commune); and the construction of Quang La Secondary - High School (Quang La Commune).

Accordingly, the transport project has received a total investment of more than 812.7 trillion VND. The four-lane road spans a total length of 10,118km.

Meanwhile, the education project has a total investment of over 197.5 trillion VND. Covering an area of about 4.17 hectares, the school can accommodate up to 940 students).

Work on the transport and education projects have reached 73% and 98% completion, respectively. Both are expected to be finished before October 30, 2023.

In addition to the four projects, the city is also working on two other projects: upgrading and expanding Quang Ninh Provincial Lung Hospital in Cao Xanh Ward; and renovating October 30 Square in Hong Hai Ward.

Various emulation movements launched to mark the special occasion

Party committees at all levels in Hai Phong City have launched many emulation movements to celebrate the 60th founding anniversary of Quang Ninh Province.

Prominent among them is the contest themed ‘Quang Ninh - 60 years of construction and development’, as well as a clean-up event, a competition on composing literary and art works; and various cultural and sports activities.

The writing contest received enthusiastic participation from local people with nearly 96,200 entries being submitted by more than 141,200 contestants, accounting for 44% of the city's population.

Many entrants depicted high investment in their articles, which suggested sound solutions to foster the development of Ha Long City and Quang Ninh Province in general.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front’s branch in Hai Phong has mobilised 6.6 billion VND to construct 35 houses for disadvantaged household in the city and repair 72 others.

Meanwhile, the City Women's Union has effectively implemented environmental protection models, and cultural and artistic activities to mark the occasion.

The city's Youth Union recently completed mural paintings with a total area of 420 sq.m along the streets in wards Ha Tu, Ha Trung, and Ha Lam.

Locals in Hong Hai Ward, Ha Long City, take part in a clean-up event to protect the environment.

Doctors at Bai Chay Hospital provided free medical examination and treatment activities in the communes of Ha Lau and Dai Duc (Tien Yen District).
