The pagoda was built around 240 years ago and was recognised as a national artistic and architectural relic site in July 1993 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The site has been restored several times; the latest of these efforts cost roughly VND66 billion (US$3.1 million).

The management board of the pagoda said that they would continue to preserve and promote the architectural and artistic values of the relic site, adding that it belongs not only to the cultural heritage of the Chinese community in Vietnam but also to the Vietnamese people as a nationally recognised heritage which must be protected for future generations.
