The State Bank of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City Branch held a press conference on October 8 to provide information on the operation of SCB amid negative rumours regarding the detention of Truong My Lan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Van Thinh Phat Group.

SCB Deputy General Director Hoang Minh Hoan stated that Truong My Lan, who was arrested for alleged fraud related to issuance and trading of bonds worth trillions of dong, does not hold managerial or executive positions at the bank.

Therefore, this does not affect the normal business activities of SCB and SCB is committed to having adequate solutions and resources to ensure the rights and interests of depositors as well as the rights and interests of SCB's partners and customers in accordance with the law.

“At SCB, the interests of customers are placed at the highest position and the needs and questions of customers in all situations will be handled,” affirmed Hoang Minh Hoan.
