With the theme ‘Exploring Knowledge, Shaping the Future’, the event is among the activities celebrating Viet Nam Science and Technology Day (May 18).
Promoting a reading culture in the community
It aims to honour the value of books as well as science and technology, promote a reading culture in the community, foster a spirit of innovation, and advance technology and digital transformation, thus facilitating the country’s sustainable development.
The opening ceremony took place on the morning of May 15 at 24 Ly Thuong Kiet Street, Hoan Kiem, Ha Noi, with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology and over 200 delegates including managers, scientists, publishers, technology experts, lecturers, students, young research groups, and a large audience passionate about knowledge and digital transformation.
The exhibition features hundreds of books across various fields of science and technology. These publications not only reflect the scientific and technological achievements of Viet Nam and the world but also inspire future innovation.
The exhibition is divided into two main areas. The indoor area includes several thematic subzones introducing scientific milestones during the nation’s reunification (1945–1975); Viet Nam’s scientific achievements in the 50 years after reunification (1975–2025); Viet Nam’s digital transformation and technological solutions in the fourth Industrial Revolution; and future science for the young generation (technology experience zones, popular science books, interactive augmented reality).
Whether in traditional or online format, science and technology books remain a practical and important tool for sharing and spreading scientific knowledge.
Tran Dac Hien, Director of the National Agency for Science and Technology Information and Statistics
Meanwhile, the outdoor exhibition area displays 15–20 booths from various publishers, and universities.
In his opening speech, Tran Dac Hien, Director of the National Agency for Science and Technology Information and Statistics, emphasised that whether in traditional or online format, science and technology books remain a practical and important tool for sharing and spreading scientific knowledge.
The exhibition honours the role of science books, ignites passion for discovery, and is a practical activity to promote a reading culture in the community, especially among young people, while connecting the science and technology community with education and training.
He stressed that science, technology, and innovation are the main drivers of global socio-economic development. “To successfully implement digital transformation, in addition to technological infrastructure and financial resources, the most important factor is human resources — creative knowledge workers who can adapt quickly to change. And to have such human resources, books and knowledge form an irreplaceable foundation,” he stated.

The 2025 Science and Technology Book Exhibition is not only a place to showcase books but also an interactive space to experience new technologies, a forum for knowledge sharing, and inspiration for the younger generation.
According to Hien, books are considered “the lamp of knowledge”, opening minds and sparking innovation. Therefore, the activities in the 2025 Science and Technology Book Exhibition series provide an opportunity to honour the contributions of scientists, educators, authors, and those dedicated to the development of science, technology, innovation, and a learning society.
At the opening ceremony, Bui Minh Cuong, Director of the Science and Technology Publishing House, presented science and technology books to libraries of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Viet Nam National University - Ha Noi), the National Economics University, and Viet Nam University of Commerce.
Following the opening ceremony, a contest entitled ‘Vietnamese Youth with Science and Technology Knowledge’ was launched, encouraging student clubs in Ha Noi to share inspiring stories about Vietnamese scientists or introduce their favourite science books.
According to the National Agency for Science and Technology Information and Statistics, the series of events commemorating Viet Nam Science and Technology Day aims to raise society’s awareness of the key role of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation in socio-economic development.
It affirms that science and technology books and the knowledge ecosystem are vital foundations for the national digital transformation process, building a learning society, and shaping digital citizens.
Visitors to the three-day book exhibition can participate in various activities such as book giveaways from the Science and Technology Publishing House, free library card registration and guidance on accessing digital databases, and seminars introducing newly released publications from the Science and Technology Publishing House.
Two workshops, themed ‘Exploiting the Digital Knowledge Ecosystem – Creating Breakthroughs in Research’ and ‘AI for Students – Self-Discovery and Mastering the Future’, will also be held on the occasion, featuring the participation of experts, scientists, publishers, and the research community.
