According to National Geographic Traveler’s associate editor, Amy Alipio, "the selection process was competitive and our editorial team worked long and hard to find 2013's best, most authentic, most sustainable lodges".

The Magazine describes Six Senses Con Dao as a resort with elegantly designed modern accommodations with generous personal space, lush tropical mangrove vegetation and breathtaking views out to sea.

The resort, priced at around US$580 per night, is delightfully remote; requiring a 45-minute flight from Ho Chi Minh City to arrive.

The list also includes Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve and Wellness Retreat in South Africa, Misool Eco Resort in Indonesia, Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica in Peru, Great Ocean Ecolodge in Australia, Milia Mountain Retreat in Greece and others.

National Geographic Traveler, a publication issued by the National Geographic Society, is circulated worldwide, with more than 8.5 million readers.
