This year's event was launched by The Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), coordinated with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour.
Speaking at the kick-off ceremony, Nguyen Quang Vinh, VCCI Vice Executive Chairman and VBCSD Chairman, who is also Deputy Head of the Programme Steering Committee, said that over the past eight years, the CSI Programme has contributed to helping the Vietnamese business community transform its business thinking, from traditional, profit-driven business to natural business, more humane business, more inclusive business, and more responsible business.
The main changes in the content of the 2024 Index focus mainly on the environment section. In addition, environmental indicators are also more clearly divided into two groups: "compliance" - basic indicators and "initiatives" - advanced indicators.
These changes not only help the Evaluation Council of the CSI 2024 Program to more accurately evaluate and score businesses' sustainable development efforts but also help businesses approach environmental management issues more conveniently.
Not stopping there, the most notable improvement in the CSI 2024 Program is dividing the business evaluation system into 3 areas: manufacturing, trade service and mixed (including the above two areas).
In 2024, the Programme will accept applications from businesses of all sizes and sectors through online submission and will not collect any fees from businesses.
In addition to evaluating and announcing 100 sustainable businesses, the CSI 2024 Program also develops award categories to praise pioneering businesses, implementing circular economy and cutting carbon emissions, and businesses pioneering in building diverse, equitable and inclusive values.
This year, the Programme Organising Committee maintained a public implementation of the evaluation scale for each section and each field to support businesses in the self-assessment process, as well as to compare with the evaluation from the Evaluation Council of the Programme.
