According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ho Chi Minh City recorded the largest volume of FDI in 2023 at 5.85 billion USD.
The northern province of Thai Binh surpassed many other provinces and cities to enter the top 5 localities in FDI attraction for the first time. The province attracted 2.79 billion USD, the highest figure to date, ranked fifth among 63 provinces and cities nationwide. In 2022, the province had only attracted 308 million USD in FDI and ranked 18th.
In the last month of 2023, Thai Binh granted an investment certificate to a consortium of three investors in relation to the Thai Binh LNG gas power plant project, with total investment capital of nearly 2 billion USD.
The Thai Binh Economic Zone is the most attractive destination for investors, with an area of more than 30,580 ha located about 35km from Cat Bi International Airport (Hai Phong) and about 50km from Lach Huyen International Seaport.
The province has also established several new economic zones since 2021, including the Lien Ha Thai Economic Zone, Hai Long Economic Zone, VSIP Thai Binh Economic Zone, and others.
