Vo Nguyen Thuy, Editor-in-Chief of Quang Tri's Radio, Television and Newspaper Agency, delivered a heartfelt tribute, expressing deep respect to those who sacrificed their lives for the nation's independence and freedom. Participants offered incense and flowers at the altars dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh and martyrs.
In a deeply moving moment, thousands of glowing lanterns were released onto the Thach Han River. The shimmering procession of lights symbolised the nation's collective gratitude, transforming the historical river into a river of remembrance.
This emotionally charged event not only paid tribute to the fallen but also reinforced the national tradition of honouring ancestors. The ceremony serves as a unique, culturally rich tourism offering by Quang Tri Province—an embodiment of the Vietnamese spirit of “remembering the source while drinking the water.”
The programme also aims to inspire patriotic sentiment, promote peace, and educate future generations on the values of resilience and sacrifice.
Organised by Quang Tri's Provincial Radio, Television and Newspaper Agency in collaboration with local authorities, the event marked the 100th anniversary of the Viet Nam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925–2025) and the 78th anniversary of the Wounded and Fallen Soldiers’ Day (July 27, 1947–2025).
