Numbered PL1 and PL2, the dedicated trains serving the medical staff, doctors, and employees of Bach Mai Hospital officially commenced operation, contributing to improving the efficiency of transportation infrastructure connecting medical examination and treatment services.

Accordingly, more than 500 medical staff and personnel travel by train daily from Ha Noi to Bach Mai Hospital’s facility in Ninh Binh for work. To meet transportation needs, the railway industry organises a train consisting of 9 soft-seat carriages, equipped with air conditioning and amenities for passengers. The train also provides light meals and drinks such as coffee, tea, and fruit juice, creating favourable conditions for the medical team during their journey.

The train operates from Monday to Friday every week. Specifically, for the outbound journey, the PL1 train departs from Ha Noi Station at 6:15 AM and arrives at Phu Ly Station at 7:22 AM; for the return journey, the PL2 train departs from Phu Ly Station at 5:20 PM and arrives at Ha Noi Station at 6:30 PM. Both trains stop to pick up and drop off passengers at Giap Bat Station.

To ensure convenient and safe travel, Ninh Binh Province has arranged shuttle buses at Phu Ly Station, providing two-way transportation between the station and Bach Mai Hospital’s Ninh Binh branch, forming a closed and synchronised transportation system.

Bach Mai Hospital’s Ninh Binh branch has a capacity of 1,000 beds and is expected to help alleviate the burden on the main facility in Ha Noi, while bringing high-tech medical services closer to the people in the southern Red River Delta region. However, coordinating the regular travel of nearly 1,300 medical staff between the two facilities poses an urgent need for a suitable transportation solution.

The introduction of the dedicated PL1/PL2 train service not only meets the transportation needs of medical staff but also demonstrates the proactive and collaborative role of the railway industry in serving the public’s healthcare needs and contributing to the development of a high-quality healthcare system in the localities.
