This year, the organising board has restored the water procession and fish worshipping rituals to pay respect to ancestors of the Tran dynasty, who were associated with fishing.

The procession started at Thien Truong Temple, where 14 kings of the Tran dynasty are worshipped, and travelled to the area of the Huu Bi ferry to release fish.

The seal opening ceremony — the main ritual of the festival — is scheduled for 14th night of the first lunar month (February 23) with traditional rites. The seals will be distributed to the public from 5am on the 15th day till the 20th day of the first lunar month. The seals are believed to bring about good luck and happiness.

A wide variety of cultural, arts and traditional sporting activities are being held during the four-day festival, including lion dances, dragon dances, cheo (traditional opera) and chau van (spiritual) singing, human chess, and wrestling and martial arts performances.
