The Asia-Pacific Tea Competition is organised by tea associations from 20 countries around the world. It was initiated by the Tea Industry Committee of the China Association for the Promotion of International Agricultural Cooperation.

Over the past decade, the competition has become one of the most professional tea evaluation events in the region.

This year’s contest attracted 342 tea samples from various countries and territories such as Thailand, Viet Nam, China, and Taiwan (China). The teas were judged in three categories: green tea, black tea, and other teas. The evaluation period ran from May to the end of October 2025.

In 2024, the former Ha Giang Province also achieved remarkable results at the GLS Tea Competition in Australia, winning 19 awards, including eight gold, eight silver and three bronze medals.

The continuous international recognition of Tuyen Quang’s tea products reaffirms the quality and growing reputation of the province’s tea brand.

This success also presents significant opportunities for local tea-processing enterprises and cooperatives to enhance product value while integrating development with eco-tourism and cultural experience activities.

Tuyen Quang Province currently has 28,000 hectares of tea plantations, producing over 170,000 tonnes annually. Notably, the province possesses 18,000 hectares of Shan Tuyet tea, highly valued for its purity and exceptional flavour.
