On February 24, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh signed Decision No. 389/QD-TTg to officially recognise the poverty alleviation of these two districts and two communes.

According to the decision, Khanh Son District and Khanh Vinh District will no longer be classified as impoverished and will be removed from the national list of poor districts. Similarly, Vạn Thanh Commune and Loc Binh Commune will no longer be considered extremely difficult areas.

The People’s Committees of Khanh Hoa Province and Hue City are tasked with officially announcing this decision and continuing to implement poverty reduction policies. Local governments must allocate budgets and mobilise legal resources to improve infrastructure, enhance economic conditions, and sustain the progress made.

The national review on multidimensional poverty in 2024, conducted by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs, reported a nationwide poverty rate of 4.06%, with over 1.25 million households classified as poor or near poor.

In Thua Thien Hue, the poverty rate was 1.4%, while in Khanh Hoa, it was 1.26%.

Previously, in July 2024, A Luoi District (Thua Thien Hue) was also recognised for overcoming poverty in 2024.
