Vallet Scholarship Fund grants nearly 50,000 scholarships in Vietnam

After 25 years of establishment, the Vallet Scholarship Fund has granted nearly 50,000 scholarships worth more than 500 billion VND to excellent students nationwide.

Professor Tran Thanh Van, President of the 'Rencontres du Vietnam' Scientific Association, said that these scholarships are not only material support but also a great source of spiritual encouragement, helping students confidently pursue their dreams and aspirations.

He affirmed that the Vallet Scholarship Fund vividly demonstrates the international community's interest in Vietnam's education, especially the France-Vietnam friendship.

At the same time, he emphasised that the fund will continue to actively contribute to developing education and science in Vietnam.

Speaking online at the ceremony to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Vallet Scholarship Fund, Professor Odon Vallet, Chairman of the Vallet Fund, said that since 2001, he has voluntarily contributed to the scholarship programme through the 'Rencontres du Vietnam' Scientific Association founded by Professor Tran Thanh Van and Professor Le Kim Ngoc. Since then, he has accompanied Vietnamese students.

Professor Vallet expressed his appreciation for the student’s learning spirit and pledged to continue cooperating with the Vietnam Science Association to expand the scale, improve the quality of activities, and award Vallet scholarships of higher value in the future.

Dr Espéran Padonou, Director of the Vallet Scholarship Fund, expressed his gratitude to scientists, agencies and the whole society for joining hands to support and help spread the Scholarship Fund and encourage the academic spirit of Vietnamese students.

He said that in 2024, the Vallet Scholarship Fund, through the 'Rencontres du Vietnam' Scientific Association, granted 2,100 scholarships to excellent students nationwide, with a value of 15 million VND per scholarship for high school students, 29 million VND per scholarship for university students, and 45 million VND per scholarship for graduate students.

In recognition of the Vallet Scholarship Fund’s outstanding and positive contributions and its programmes in Vietnam, the Minister of Science and Technology awarded the Medal "For the Cause of Science and Technology" to Dr Espéran Padonou, Director of the Vallet Scholarship Fund.
