Various activities mark Vietnam Teachers’ Day

On November 20, permanent member of the Party Central Committee (PCC) Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong visited and congratulated teachers and students of schools in the upland commune of Tu Le in Van Chan District, Yen Bai Province, on the occasion of Vietnam Teachers’ Day (November 20).

Extending his regards, encouragement and best wishes to the teachers and students, Politburo member Vuong affirmed that the Party and State always care for the educational cause of the country, especially in localities in the highlands and extremely disadvantaged regions.

He encouraged the teachers to continue fostering their passion for the teaching career while renovating their teaching methods to effectively transmit knowledge to the students.

On the occasion, the senior Party official presents gifts to teachers and students of schools in Tu Le.

★ On the same day, a ceremony was held at the Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam (the Temple of Literature) in Hanoi to mark the 650th anniversary of the death of renowned teacher and cultural celebrity Chu Van An (1370-2020).

The event was attended by Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue and UNESCO Chief Representative to Vietnam Michael Croft, among others.

Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh briefly recalled the life and cause of teacher and celebrity Chu Van An, affirming that his educational philosophy has maintained its value and remains close to the world’s educational purpose.

For his part, Michael Croft said that following teacher and celebrity Chu Van An, people should consider education a lifetime cause which is important and necessary to sustainable development for themselves, their families, the community and the whole nation.

★ On Friday, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics organised a ceremony to celebrate the 38th Vietnam Teachers’ Day in the presence of Politburo member and Head of the PCC’s Organisation Commission Pham Minh Chinh.

★ On November 20, Politburo member Nguyen Thien Nhan visited the family of Meritorious Teacher, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Bao Lam, former secretary of the Party Committee of the university, college and professional secondary school bloc and former Rector of the Ho Chi Minh City Open University.

★ On the same day, Secretary of the HCM City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen led a delegation of the municipal authorities to visit exemplary teachers and teachers’ families in the city.

★ The Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the gifted held a ceremony on November 20 to mark Vietnam Teachers’ Day and received the Government’s Emulation Flag and a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee.
