The signing ceremony was attended by Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation, and Chairman of the Viet Nam Journalists’ Association; Sergey Kochetkov, First Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Rossiya Segodnya; and Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi, together with leaders and officials from both sides.
Speaking at the ceremony, Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh expressed his delight that, after a lengthy period of preparation and joint efforts, Nhan Dan Newspaper and Rossiya Segodnya have formally established the cooperation agreement.
He emphasised that relations between Viet Nam and Russia are of a special nature, underpinned by an increasingly solid political foundation and steadily expanding economic cooperation. Many Vietnamese leaders and businesspeople who studied in the former Soviet Union and subsequently in Russia are making significant contributions to the country's development and to the traditional friendship between Viet Nam and Russia.
Le Quoc Minh affirmed that, as the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and one of the country's leading national media organisations, Nhan Dan Newspaper hopes that its partnership with Rossiya Segodnya will help bring accurate and authoritative information about Viet Nam to a wider Russian audience, while also enabling official news from Russia to reach Vietnamese readers more effectively.
He expressed confidence that the agreement would elevate media cooperation between Nhan Dan Newspaper and Rossiya Segodnya to a new and more effective level, thereby further promoting press cooperation between the two countries and contributing to the strengthening of the longstanding friendship between Viet Nam and Russia.
Sergey Kochetkov, First Deputy Director General of Rossiya Segodnya, welcomed the delegation from Nhan Dan Newspaper and expressed his pleasure at hosting the visit. He noted that the agreement will provide an important foundation for closer cooperation between the two organisations, meeting the growing interest of the Russian public in Viet Nam and its people while helping to bring the peoples of the two countries closer together.
Addressing the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi said he was honoured and pleased to witness the signing of the cooperation agreement between Nhan Dan Newspaper and Rossiya Segodnya — one of Russia's largest and most respected media groups.
In the presence of representatives of both organisations and the Embassy of Viet Nam in Russia, Le Quoc Minh and Sergey Kochetkov signed the cooperation agreement, officially launching a new phase of collaboration between the two media organisations.
Under the agreement, the two sides have agreed to provide each other with access to up-to-date information on activities and events in Viet Nam, Russia, and around the world; support journalists reporting in each other's countries; jointly organise media events; and strengthen cooperation in journalist training, professional development, and the exchange of journalistic expertise.
The agreement is expected to enhance the effectiveness of information and communications on the Party's guidelines and policies as well as the state's laws and policies; promote the image of Viet Nam and its people in Russia; facilitate professional exchanges and the diversification of information sources; strengthen people-to-people exchanges; and make a practical contribution to advancing the Viet Nam–Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Immediately after the signing ceremony, Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh and the Nhan Dan Newspaper delegation toured Rossiya Segodnya's newsroom and facilities.
On same day, as part of the working visit to Russia, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh held talks with TASS Director General Andrey Kondrashov at the headquarters of TASS in Moscow.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on developments in the media landscape under current conditions, underscored the vital role of mainstream media in combating misinformation, and shared experience in digital transformation and the application of emerging technologies in journalism.
They also agreed to promote future cooperation programmes, particularly by expanding exchanges of experts and media professionals and sharing professional expertise, thereby enhancing cooperation between the press organisations of Viet Nam and Russia.
