An “Education for Innovation Showcase” event held in Ha Noi on April 15 brought together policymakers, universities, businesses and research institutions from both countries. The event was jointly organised by the National Innovation Centre (NIC) under the Ministry of Finance and Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ).

The programme centred on three priority sectors: agricultural technology, health technology and tourism—areas seen as critical to economic growth, quality of life and long-term competitiveness. It also offered opportunities to expand cooperation in education, applied research, technology transfer and talent development.

Speaking at the event, NIC Deputy Director Do Tien Thinh highlighted the importance of international collaboration in advancing innovation and digital transformation in Viet Nam. He described Australia as a trusted strategic partner, noting Queensland’s strengths in research excellence and industry-linked education, particularly in fields such as healthcare, agriculture, biomedical science and environmental studies.

Queensland’s education system, one of Australia’s leading international training hubs, recorded export revenues of 6.89 billion USD in 2024. Through TIQ, the state is actively strengthening partnerships with Vietnamese institutions and businesses.

Shannon Leahy, Queensland’s Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner for Southeast Asia, said the state’s education and research model effectively integrates training with industry needs, especially in key technology sectors.

Delegates at the event stressed that, amid rapid global changes driven by digital transformation and emerging technologies, education and research are not only foundational but also key drivers of innovation and sustainable development.

The programme also featured networking sessions aimed at fostering practical partnerships. A follow-up event is scheduled in Ho Chi Minh City on April 16, further expanding cooperation between the two sides.
