The event was attended by Cuban Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Oscar Pérez-Oliva, alongside representatives from government agencies and businesses of both countries.
Taking place just days before the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960–2025), the celebration underscored Viet Nam’s determination to expand economic, trade and investment cooperation with Cuba in a new phase.
In his opening remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Quang Long highlighted the significance of “Viet Nam Day”: a major national-brand promotion activity and a tribute to the steadfast friendship forged by leaders and generations of citizens from both nations. He recalled iconic statements by President Fidel Castro and President Ho Chi Minh, noting that their legacy continues to shape and strengthen bilateral ties.
Ambassador Long emphasised that Viet Nam–Cuba relations go far beyond traditional political and diplomatic cooperation. Viet Nam is now Cuba’s second-largest Asian trading partner and the largest Asia-Pacific investor in the Caribbean nation.
Collaboration has been expanding in key sectors such as agriculture and food security, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, trade and investment.
Deputy Prime Minister Pérez-Oliva praised Viet Nam’s strong presence at FIHAV 2025 as clear evidence of long-term commitment. He affirmed that the Cuban Government would continue to facilitate market access and support Vietnamese enterprises seeking deeper participation in Cuba’s priority development projects.
Vietnamese firms showcased a broad portfolio—ranging from agricultural produce, food items and consumer goods to renewable-energy solutions and supporting industries—reflecting the growing competitiveness of Vietnamese products in Cuba and the wider Caribbean.
The Vietnamese Embassy coordinated with Cuban ministries and agencies organised business-matching activities for 15 Vietnamese companies operating in fertilisers, agricultural processing, plant protection, consumer goods and solar energy. These sessions enabled enterprises to explore market opportunities and discuss potential cooperation in sectors where Cuba has high demand.
Running from November 24 to 29 at Expocuba, the 41st Havana International Fair reaffirmed its position as the Caribbean’s premier trade-promotion event.
