Viet Nam hosts CANSO Asia Pacific Conference 2026

The Viet Nam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) is hosting the Sixth Meeting of the Asia Pacific ANSP Committee (AAC/6) and the CANSO Asia Pacific Conference 2026 from July 6 to 9, drawing nearly 200 delegates to one of the region's most significant international events in air traffic management.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Construction Le Anh Tuan noted that the Asia-Pacific region has emerged as one of the world's most dynamic centres of aviation growth. For Viet Nam, aviation development serves as a key driver of socio-economic development and of stronger national, regional, and international connectivity. The Vietnamese Government is implementing a wide range of policies to advance the aviation sector in a modern, safe, efficient, green, and sustainable manner.

"Viet Nam remains committed to being an active and responsible member of the international aviation community and is prepared to collaborate with countries, organisations, and partners to contribute to the development of the Asia-Pacific aviation sector," Le Anh Tuan affirmed.

According to Andrea Sack, Senior Vice President, Global Operations at CANSO, the Asia-Pacific region now drives global aviation growth. Nearly 37% of the world's air passengers currently travel within, to, or from the Asia-Pacific region.

This figure is projected to climb over the next two decades, accounting for almost half of global passenger traffic.

Tao Ma, Regional Director of the ICAO Asia and Pacific Office, stated that the Asia-Pacific region consistently proves how regional cooperation delivers tangible results. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) remains committed to supporting States, air navigation service providers (ANSPs), and aviation industry partners to forge a safer, more efficient, more resilient, and more sustainable air navigation system for the future.

VATM Chairman Le Hoang Minh noted that, as host, VATM envisions the conference providing a practical platform for participants to exchange experience, identify implementation priorities, and promote solutions suited to the diverse development conditions across the Asia-Pacific region.

VATM prioritises initiatives that promote data sharing, collaborative decision-making, air traffic flow management, digital transformation, capacity building, and the development of Common Situation Pictures (CSPs) for operations.

These initiatives are vital for improving airspace efficiency, ensuring safety, and strengthening the resilience of regional air traffic management systems.

This marks the second time Viet Nam has been selected by CANSO to host the CANSO Asia Pacific Conference. The conference centres on leveraging global expertise in modernising air traffic management; discussing the development of CSPs to strengthen data sharing and improve coordination of flight operations among countries; and exchanging views on the Minimum Implementation Path (MIP) and supporting measures to help nations progressively modernise their air navigation services systems.
