Minh made the affirmation in a working session in Ha Noi on December 2 with the Cuban delegation, affirming that Viet Nam is willing to assist Cuba through training, experience sharing, and the transfer of software and digital newsroom management tools.
The host highlighted the longstanding bond between the two countries’ press agencies – a relationship that has been strengthened across generations, including many Vietnamese journalists who studied in Cuba.
Showing his admiration for Cuba’s efforts to overcome hardships, Minh said Viet Nam has provided substantial support on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties. The Vietnamese people are ready to provide unconditional support to Cuba, especially in the areas of journalism and communications, he stressed.
Discussing Viet Nam’s push toward digital transformation in journalism, Minh said the country has rapidly advanced its efforts in the post-COVID-19 era. He stressed that digital transformation goes beyond technology investment, requiring a shift in mindset, skills, newsroom models, and methods of information delivery.
Legañoa Alonso, who is visiting Viet Nam on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Viet Nam-Cuba diplomatic ties, extended his deep condolences to the Vietnamese people over the losses caused by recent storms.
The Cuban delegation had gained valuable insights from Viet Nam’s reform process, particularly in the economic and communications sectors, he said, while candidly sharing unprecedented difficulties Cuba is facing.
The guest stressed that despite the immense challenges, this moment also offers a chance for Cuba’s revolutionary press to fortify its resolve and demonstrate its commitment to renewing its operation methods and rising above adversity.
Under its new development strategy, Prensa Latina’s top priority is to modernise its technological infrastructure and strengthen the technical and legal foundations needed for digital transformation, he said, noting that this process can only be effective if it is carried out in tandem with suitable management software and newsroom tools that enhance operational efficiency in a modern media environment.
The agency also aims to expand its scale, improve operational efficiency, and modernise its reporting methods to meet the demands of contemporary media, enabling more direct and flexible engagement with the public, he stated.
Legañoa Alonso expressed the desire to strengthen training and share experiences with Vietnamese press agencies to adapt and strongly develop in the digital era.
The two sides agreed to work closely on professional training, experience sharing, and organising training courses on modern and multi-platform journalism. They acknowledged that strengthening cooperation in journalism will help the media in both countries develop further, thus contributing to strengthening the traditional solidarity between Viet Nam and Cuba.
Earlier the same day, the Prensa Latina delegation laid flowers at the monument honouring Cuban experts, and toured the Viet Nam Military History Museum.
