This event forms part of a series of activities organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in response to World Oceans Day 2025 (June 8).

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Le Minh Ngan, underscored that the sea and oceans are not only vital spaces for economic growth but also invaluable natural heritage and a legacy for future generations.

He stated that, through selecting the theme ‘Green Technology for a Sustainable Ocean’ for Viet Nam Sea and Islands Week, Viet Nam continues to reaffirm its firm commitment to ocean conservation and the advancement of a modern and sustainable marine economy.

He further emphasised that this year’s theme conveys a message of an oceanic green revolution, where technology not only facilitates efficient resource utilisation but also plays a crucial role in preserving and rejuvenating the marine environment.

The Deputy Minister highlighted that in recent years, Viet Nam has implemented several strategic policies, including Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW on sustainable marine economic development, the Strategy for Sustainable Exploitation and Use of Marine Resources and Environmental Protection, and, most recently, Resolution No. 139/2024/QH15 on national marine spatial planning.

These policies clearly demonstrate a forward-thinking approach, placing science, technology, and innovation at the core of efforts to foster a blue economy, he stated.
