The event marks a significant milestone in a series of programmes commemorating 75th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Year of China-Vietnam Humanistic Exchange 2025, and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the friendship between Mong Cai (Vietnam) and Dongxing (China).

Chairman of Mong Cai People's Committee Ho Quang Huy and Mayor of Dongxing Municipal People's Government Li Jian officiated the launch ceremony of the river tourism programme onboard vessels travelling along the shared border.

The initiative takes advantage of the region's unique ecological and geographical features, linking the river and adjacent coastal areas between Vietnam and China. It reflects the high-level consensus between the two Parties and States, as well as the governments of Quang Ninh Province (Vietnam) and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China), to jointly promote a distinctive cross-border tourism brand rooted in the local identities of Mong Cai and Dongxing.
