Vietnam and RoK join hands to enhance intellectual property enforcement

Speaking at the forum, Director of the COV Tran Hoang said, that the forum is one of the annual activities under the cooperation programme, to deploy the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in copyright and relevant rights, signed on September 4, 2013, between the Copyright Office of Vietnam and the RoK’s Copyright Commission.

This is an opportunity to introduce the latest changes in policies and legal regulations on copyright and relevant rights of Vietnam and the RoK and offers solutions and directions for cooperation, in the coming time, between the COV and the KCOPA, to promote the enforcement of copyright and relevant rights, and develop the cultural industries of the two countries.

At the forum, Kim Dong Eun, Head of the Department for Trade and Culture Cooperation under the KCOPA emphasised, the emergence of new technologies and different business models based on technology in the content industry, is making big changes in the entire copyright ecosystem.

Therefore, this forum meets the needs of the two countries, jointly offering multifaceted solutions towards reducing policy lag on copyright and relevant rights to technology development.

Many experiences are shared by the Korean side in the protection of copyright and relevant rights.

The delegates mentioned solutions to strengthen the effective enforcement of copyright and relevant rights in the coming time, such as perfecting the legal system in line with reality and forecasting; stepping up the application of information technology and digital transformation, in agencies that manage and enforce copyright and relevant rights; propagating, disseminating and educating to raise awareness and sense of observance of the law on copyright and relevant rights; strengthening inspection, examination and handling of violations; strengthening international cooperation in the fight against violations of copyright and relevant rights, across borders and in cyberspace.
