Vietnam becomes world’s third-largest producer of natural rubber

Nhan Dan Online/VNA - Vietnam has surpassed Malaysia and India to become the third-largest producer of natural rubber in the world, according to the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC).

ANRPC reported that in 2013, Vietnam’s rubber output hit 1.043 million tonnes, up 20.8 percent from 2012.

China climbed from sixth to fourth place, with 856,000 tonnes.

Malaysia fell from third place to sixth after experiencing a drop of 11.1 percent in production, ending 2013 with a total of 820,000 tonnes.

India also suffered a similar decrease, falling to 849,000 tonnes but remaining in the fifth position.
