Nhan Dan Online - Vietnam got off to a perfect start at the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar, handily defeating Brunei 7-0 in their Group A opener at Zeyar Thiri Stadium this afternoon.

Vu Minh Tuan opened the scoring for Vietnam in the 22nd minute with an unstoppable long-range strike before Ha Minh Tuan made it to 2-0 three minutes later.

Striker Van Thang managed to lash the third goal in stoppage time, wrapping up the first half with Vietnam enjoying a 3-0 advantage.

The second half saw a continuation of Vietnam's absolute control.

Van Thang earned his brace in the 56th minute before Manh Dung, Hong Quan and Phi Son scored three additional goals in the 66th, 68th and 82nd minutes, respectively, to seal a 7-0 victory for Vietnam.

In another Group A game the same day, Laos fought back in the second half to tie 1-1 with Singapore, thanks to the equaliser from Khouanta Sivongthong with four minutes left to play.

Next up for Vietnam is a meeting with Singapore in their second group match at Zeyar Thiri Stadium on December 10.
