Ben Tre Import and Export Joint Stock Company (Betrimex) and Jiangnan Market Imported Fruit Chamber of Commerce, based in Guangzhou Province, China, have just signed a memorandum of understanding on establishing a strategic partnership for exporting fresh coconuts from Vietnam to China.

Cao Ba Dang Khoa, General Secretary of the Vietnam Coconut Association, said that the export turnover of products made from coconut in the first nine months of this year increased by more than 120% over the same period last year. Currently, this fruit is being exported to more than 90 countries and territories, with the main markets of the US, China, the Republic of Korea, and Japan.

Vietnam was licensed to officially export fresh coconuts to China in August, which is expected to open huge export opportunities with this billion-person market.

Khoa noted that the Vietnam Coconut Association will lead a delegation of more than 10 enterprises and cooperatives to attend some fruit and food fairs in China in September this year.
