The 2023 World Travel Awards (WTA)’ Asia & Oceania gala ceremony was held in Ho Chi Minh City on September 6.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Graham Cooke, Founder and President of WTA, said winners are outstanding examples of the tourism industry and he also congratulated winners for helping to raise the overall standard of world tourism.

This year, Vietnam tourism continues to reap many prestigious awards in more than 40 categories. Especially, Vietnam was honoured as Asia’s Leading Destination for the fifth time and Asia’s Leading Nature Destination for the second consecutive time (in 2022 and 2023).
To receive this year’s award, Vietnam surpassed many "heavy" candidates in the region such as China, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea (RoK), Malaysia, Singapore, etc. The award once again affirmed the brand and special attraction of Vietnam Tourism in the eyes of international tourists and friends.

This year, Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) continues to receive the “Asia's Leading Tourist Board” Award after surpassing many outstanding nominees including Japan, the RoK, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and India.
This is the fourth time the VNAT has been honoured with this prestigious award after 2017, 2021 and 2022.
Two famous Vietnamese cities, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, continued to win double awards.
The capital city of Hanoi won the “Asia's Leading City Destination 2023” and Asia's Leading City Break Destination 2023” awards. Hanoi municipal Department of Tourism received the title "Asia's Leading City Tourist Board” for the first time.
Not only receiving the “Asia’ Leading Business Travel Destination” award, Ho Chi Minh City was also honoured as the “Asia’s Leading Festival and Event Destination” in 2023.
This year’s Ha Giang and Ha Nam Provinces were honoured as “Asia's Leading Emerging Tourism Destination 2023” and “Asia’s Leading Regional Cultural Destination 2023”, respectively.
The ancient city of Hoi An in the central province of Quang Nam maintains the title of “Asia’s Leading Cultural City Destination 2023”.

Moc Chau District in the northern mountainous province of Son La won the “Asia's Leading Regional Nature Destination 2023” award for the second time after 2022.
Cuc Phuong National Park in the northern province of Ninh Binh was honoured as the “Asia's Leading National Park 2023”.
The pearl island of Phu Quoc once again demonstrates its potential for luxury tourism with the “Asia’s Leading Luxury Island Destination 2023” award.
In addition, many famous brands of Vietnam in the fields of hotels, resorts, airlines and travel agencies were honoured in many categories of the WTA 2023 such as Vietnam Airlines for the title of “Asia's Leading Airline - Economy Class 2023” and VietjetAir for the “Asia's Leading Airline - Customer Experience 2023” award.
In the awards for service and travel companies, Vietravel won the “Asia's Leading Tour Operator 2023” award and Sun Group became the “Asia's Leading Integrated Tourism Group 2023”.
This year's WTA titles are a reward for the great efforts of Vietnamese tourism sector to vercome difficulties and challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and also the motivation for Vietnamese tourism to continue to renew and create many high-quality products.
