Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam congratulated and spoke highly of efforts and achievements made by generations of lectures and students at the VNAM over the past 60 years.
The academy has become the leading centre for musical training, research and performance in Vietnam, he said, adding the academy is also the cradle for many renowned lecturers, musicians, artists and critics who have made great contributions to preserving traditional music, as well as the construction and development of the nation.
Deputy PM Dam also acknowledged the efforts of the academy to introduce the essence of the world’s music to Vietnamese audiences while enriching the traditional music of the nation.
Over the past 60 years, officials, teachers, employees and students of various generations at the academy have made great efforts to overcome all difficulties and challenges to create a high-quality music training centre for Vietnam. So far, the academy has trained more than 10,000 students. Many of them have won top prizes at both national and international music competitions.
The VNAM has been honoured with many noble accolades by the Party and State, including the Ho Chi Minh Order in 2014; the Independence Order, first class, in 2001 and 2006; the Independence Order, second class, in 1996 and 1991; and the Labour Order, second class, in 1981; among others.
At the ceremony, the academy was also presented with the Labour Order, first class, by the State President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
