Under the theme “Joining hands to build deep-rooted friendship and advance development together”, this was a meaningful opening activity of the Year of Viet Nam–China Humanistic Exchanges, marking the 76th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
In the opening remarks, Nguyen Thanh Sinh, Vice Chairman of the Lao Cai Provincial People’s Committee, affirmed that Viet Nam and China are friendly neighbouring countries whose peoples share many cultural similarities.
Over the course of development, Viet Nam–China friendly relations have continued to be consolidated and strengthened for the benefit of the two peoples and for peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
Within this overall relationship, border localities, particularly Lao Cai Province (Viet Nam) and localities of Yunnan Province (China), play an important role, serving both as the frontline in safeguarding peace and stability and as a direct, vivid bridge of friendship between the two peoples.
Lao Cai Province always attaches importance to and actively promotes people-to-people exchanges, viewing them as a sustainable foundation for long-term cooperation and mutually beneficial development.
On this basis, cooperative activities between Lao Cai Province and Yunnan Province have continued to expand and deepen in a more substantive and effective manner across multiple fields, contributing to nurturing the traditional friendship between the two Parties, the two States and the two peoples.
Speaking at the programme, Zhao Rui Jun, Secretary of the Honghe Prefectural Party Committee (China), said that Honghe is ready to work with Lao Cai Province, taking the important common understanding of the leaders of the two Parties and the two States as guidance, to further deepen local-level cooperation in the Red River basin.
The focus will be placed on key areas such as infrastructure connectivity, economy and trade, and people-to-people exchanges, with a view to promoting more practical cooperation that brings tangible benefits to the people, and serving as a more vivid practice in building a China–Viet Nam community with a shared future.
At the programme, delegates and large numbers of local residents enjoyed singing and dancing performances that combined sound and lighting, featuring 12 elaborately staged and engaging items performed by artists and performers from the Honghe Prefectural Song and Dance Troupe of Yunnan Province (China) and the Lao Cai Provincial Ethnic Art Troupe.
Each performance was a tribute to the homeland, the country, friendship and solidarity, rich in cultural identity, and aimed at introducing and promoting the land and people of each locality, country and ethnic group.
