Tran Minh Tien, Advisor to the Association of Vietnamese people in Udon Thani Province, Thailand
The Vietnamese community in Thailand has always promoted solidarity and mutual support. The life of expatriates in Thailand is getting better and they play an important role in the host country.
In recent years, OVs in Thailand have turned their hearts towards the motherland through practical actions, including making donations to flood victims in Vietnam’s central region and supporting the COVID-19 fight in Vietnam.
The Vietnamese community in Thailand has made effort to preserve the national cultural identity and educate young generation about their Vietnamese ancestry. OV families in Thailand still maintain traditional Tet customs such as making ‘banh chung’ and visiting pagodas. Every year, people in Udon Thani Province host events to introduce traditional Vietnamese ‘Tet’ dishes.
The Vietnamese community in Thailand also regularly organises Vietnamese language teaching classes for children of Vietnamese origin, thus providing them with a deeper understanding of the land and culture of Vietnam.
We hope that the Party and State will continue to care for Overseas Vietnamese and create favourable conditions for the training of Vietnamese language teachers and the teaching of the Vietnamese language.
Nguyen Viet Trieu – Member of the Executive Committee of the Union of Vietnamese People Associations in Europe and Vice President of the Association of Vietnamese People in Poland

The Vietnamese community in Poland is a small community, but the OVs have promoted unity and the spirit of mutual sharing and caring for each other. Over the past two years, the Vietnamese community in Poland has set up committees and funds to support Vietnamese people in the host country amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition, the Vietnamese community also established a cooking team to provide free meals to many hospitals and anti-pandemic forces in Poland. Not only has the Vietnamese community contributed to the local socio-economic development in Poland, it has also raised the image of Vietnamese people in the eyes of the Polish friends.
Overseas Vietnamese in Poland always look toward the motherland, making donations to support the central provinces in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters. We have also donated face masks and disinfectants, and made donations to the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund to support Vietnam in fighting the pandemic.
We hope that Vietnam will soon put the pandemic under complete control, and that the country will continue to develop further. Wherever they go, wherever we are, we are always Vietnamese people and always proud of our motherland.
Nguyen Dong Hai, Vice President of the Association of Vietnamese people in Slovakia
After 34 years of working and living abroad, this is the first time I have attended the Homeland Spring Programme. The programme features a variety of activities illustrating the Party and State's great care for Overseas Vietnamese.
The beloved homeland is always in the hearts of the Vietnamese community in Slovakia. Whenever the country is facing difficulties due to natural disasters and pandemics, Vietnamese expatriates in Slovakia always give a helping hand through practical activities.
Despite being affected by the pandemic, the Vietnamese community in Slovakia is still willing to contribute to the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund with the hope that the fatherland will soon overcome this difficult period of time.
The love of the homeland has also motivated us to maintain and strengthen the cohesion of the Overseas Vietnamese community. OV community in Slovakia pays great attention to safeguarding and promoting Vietnamese cultural identity by strengthening the teaching of Vietnamese language to children of Vietnamese ancestry. The young generation of Vietnamese in Slovakia has not only achieved success in the host country, but also developed a strong attachment to the motherland.
Nguyen Huy Thang, an OV from Germany

Overseas Vietnamese community in Germany is a united community and always looks forward to the homeland. On the occasion of the lunar New Year, Vietnamese people in Germany maintain traditional practices such as making ‘banh chung’ and offering incense to the ancestors on Lunar New Year’s Eve.
Vietnam overseas Vietnamese in Germany provide wholeheartedly support to the homeland whenever Vietnam face difficulties due to natural disasters and pandemic. Vietnamese expats in Germany have been actively donating to flood victims in the central region as well as to the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund.
After two years being unable to return to Vietnam, I am very excited to return the motherland and rejoice at the country’s development and the joyful atmosphere in the new spring. I had the honour to attend the ‘Homeland Spring’ programme, which was organised by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The program created an opportunity for overseas Vietnamese to gather and meet with leaders of the Party and State. I believe that, under the leadership of the Party and State, Vietnam will control the COVID-19 pandemic, recover the economy, and continue to develop strongly.
