The opening ceremony at Chaktomuk theatre featured Vietnamese folk songs and dances and performances of traditional Vietnamese musical instruments, as well as melodies praising the Vietnam-Cambodia friendship.
Addressing the event, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vuong Duy Bien highlighted the long-standing solidarity, traditional friendship and cooperation that exist between the two countries.
Over the past half a century, the bilateral relations have enjoyed fruitful outcomes with significant achievements witnessed across the fields of politics, trade, culture and education, he stressed.
He noted with pleasure that cultural exchange programmes have been held regularly in the two countries, contributing to strengthening the solidarity, friendship and mutual understanding between the two peoples.
For her part, the Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Arts Phoeurng Sackona praised the cultural events and arts programmes hosted by Vietnam as an illustration of the fine cultural cooperation between the two nations, whilst they also provide an opportunity for Vietnamese and Cambodian cultural officers and experts to share their working experience.
A photo exhibition themed ‘Colours of Vietnam’ opened on the same day, under the framework of the Culture Week. Photos on display capture the natural landscape, culture and people of Vietnam, as well as the country’s UNESCO-recognised tangible and intangible cultural heritages.
