Vietnamese Family Day celebrated nationwide

Nhan Dan - A wide range of activities were held at provinces and cities across the country on June 28 to honour Vietnamese family values on the 10th anniversary of Vietnamese Family Day (June 28, 2001 - June 28, 2011).

In Nam Dinh province, the municipal People's Committee held a ceremony to honour 25 exemplary families in the province. The provincial leaders also called on local people to adopt civilised lifestyle and create cultural families that uphold traditional Vietnamese family values.

A seminar was organised in the central coastal province of Phu Yen, aiming to promote traditional Vietnamese family values in the new era. The provincial People's Committee also presented certificates of merit to 33 groups and individuals that have made significant contributions to movements for building happy, cultural families in their localities.

Over 3,000 people in Phan Rang - Thap Cham city took part in a walk for a healthy families, environment and society on June 28. They also participated in folk games and a food festival focused on love in the family.

In response to the Family Day in Hanoi, the Cau Giay district People's Committee held a 'Family Festival' with the theme 'Preserving and promoting cultural values of Vietnamese families'. Also at the event, 240 gifts worth a total of VND 48 million were presented to orphans and needy children in the district.

Various cultural and sporting activities also took place in the southern province of Quang Nam to honour the fine traditions of Vietnamese families and provide local people a chance to exchange and share experiences in building prosperous and happy families.

Many other provinces across the country including Long An, Dak Lak, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, Hau Giang, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Ninh Thuan, Quang Ngai, Thua Thien - Hue also held activities to celebrate the Vietnamese Family Day.
