According to Dr Le Thi Mai Hoa, Deputy Director of the Education Department under the Central Commission for Communications, Education and Mass Mobilisation, AI is ushering in a new era of comprehensive transformation in education, helping reshape teaching and learning methods as well as the evaluation of educational quality on a global scale.

For Viet Nam, the application of AI in education is not merely a technical requirement but also a political and strategic mission aimed at building and developing a high-quality workforce for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

In this context, Viet Nam’s education sector must be proactive, innovative and forward-looking in developing digital and AI competencies for students, teachers, lecturers and educational administrators.

“If governed properly, AI will not only be a technical tool but also become a strategic resource for realising the goal of achieving breakthroughs in education and training development,” Dr Hoa said.

Meanwhile, Do Ngoc Chi, Principal of Nguyen Binh Khiem Primary School in Ho Chi Minh City, said that digital transformation in education is not merely about providing devices or software but rather a journey of transforming awareness, culture and human capacity.

Concluding the workshop, Huynh Thanh Dat, Deputy Head of the Central Commission for Communications, Education and Mass Mobilisation asked the relevant ministries to promptly advise the Government on issuing guidance documents to implement the AI strategy in education, particularly the AI ethics framework for schools and AI curricula and materials for general education.

For higher education institutions, Dat emphasised the need to take an active and pioneering role in innovation, learning from successful models rather than passively depending on external solutions.

He also called on the business community to shift its mindset from being passive employers to becoming proactive co-creators of human resources.
