The activities also aim to strengthen class solidarity, reinforce trust and attachment of trade union members and workers to the Party, the State and trade union organisations; inspire dedication, and promote the pioneering role, sense of responsibility and innovative capacity of workers in production, thereby contributing to improved labour productivity and helping to fulfil socio-economic development targets of sectors, localities and the country in 2026.
Accordingly, the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour requires that activities organised during Workers’ Month be practical, closely linked with the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health 2026 and the 140th anniversary of International Workers’ Day (May 1). Activities must be substantive, worker-centred, with grassroots trade unions as the foundation for implementation, digital transformation as a tool, and practical effectiveness as the measure, with a view to better improving the material and spiritual lives of trade union members and workers.
Efforts will be made for 70% of enterprises with 100 employees or more to implement at least one activity in response to Workers’ Month 2026, with wide coverage in the press and media.
At least 10% of trade union members and workers are expected to participate in proposing initiatives, technical improvements and solutions to enhance labour productivity, of which at least 30% will be applied in practice at agencies, units and enterprises.
Activities will focus on improving the material and spiritual well-being of workers, including visits, gift-giving and support for those in difficult circumstances; those affected by occupational accidents, occupational diseases or serious illnesses; female workers who are pregnant or raising young children; workers facing reduced working hours or unstable income; and trade union officials affected by organisational restructuring.
Trade union welfare booths, preferential sales programmes and discounted goods will be organised for members and workers at enterprises and worker accommodation areas; “Trade Union Meals”, Workers’ Family Days, Workers’ Cultural Days, and sports events for workers in enterprises and industrial zones will also be held.
Movements promoting innovation, digital initiatives and improvements in labour productivity will also be launched and encouraged.
