In the first phase, the collection introduces readers to nine books on the life of historical figures who had significant influence on Vietnamese history.

The historical figures included King Dinh Tien Hoang (Dinh Bo Linh) - who set up the first centralised feudal State in Vietnam; King Le Dai Hanh (Le Hoan) - the first king of the Tien Le dynasty; Ly Thuong Kiet - a Ly Dynasty general who expelled an invasion by China's Song Dynasty in the 11th century; and Queen Mother Y Lan - a talented woman who replaced the king as regent to look after the country in the 11th century.

The books also honour General Tran Hung Dao - who entered Vietnam’s history for defeating Mongol invaders three times under the Tran Dynasty (1225-1400); father-and-son Kings Tran Thai Tong (1218-1277) and Tran Thanh Tong (1240-1290); Nguyen Hien, Chu Van An and Mac Dinh Chi - who were outstanding scholars under Tran dynasty; and national hero Le Loi - who led the Lam Son uprising to fight the Chinese Ming invaders in the 15th century and became the first King of the later Le dynasty (1427-1789) with the title of Le Thai To in 1428.

The collection, which is scheduled to feature 30 books, aims to inspire national pride in historical traditions and the love for the country among readers of all ages, especially students and those of the younger generation.
