The programme is expected to include a special artistic performance, a flag-raising ceremony, an announcement of the reason for the event, a commemorative speech by the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, remarks by Party and state leaders, and a speech by an outstanding young intellectual representative.
One of the key events in the series of activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the city bearing the name of President Ho Chi Minh was the scientific conference titled “50 years of the city bearing the name of President Ho Chi Minh: historical milestones, development aspirations, and institutional breakthroughs”, held on the morning of June 25.
Vo Van Son, Deputy Chief of Office of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, said that the period from June 29 to July 2 will be the peak phase of communication and commemorative activities for the 50th anniversary of Sai Gon–Gia Dinh being named after President Ho Chi Minh.
Activities will include a photo exhibition, a conference honouring outstanding cultural and happy families in 2026, a flower-offering ceremony to President Ho Chi Minh at the President Ho Chi Minh Statue Park, groundbreaking ceremonies for technical and social infrastructure development projects, the launch of emulation movements throughout the political system, and the implementation of social welfare activities during the commemorative period.
In addition, the city will organise a wide range of cultural and sporting events, including the walking programme “Heritage journey — advancing towards the future”, 3D mapping art performances, fireworks displays, and a book festival for children.
A special highlight of the commemorative series will be a live television programme on the evening of July 2 at the Reunification Hall. The programme will connect multiple locations to celebrate the city's development journey and position today.
