CP1, including a basement and eight floors, will be built in 480 days by the Hoa Binh Construction and Real Estate Corporation with a total investment of VND173 billion (US$8.1 million). The construction will cover 22 hectares, including 17,000 square metres of floor area.
The construction of CP1 is significant to quicken other contracts which are being prepared, Bui Xuan Cuong, head of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (URMB) said.
According to the URMB, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Line 2 is 12km long, comprises of 10 underground stations and one elevated station and serves 80,000 passengers per hour.
Procedures related to other aspects of the project are planned to be continued in 2015, and their investment capital is expected to be reimbursed between 2016 and 2019 in order to complete the project in 2020.
The project will be completed later than scheduled due to design adjustments, contractor selection and technical infrastructure preparation.
The Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Line 2 travels through districts 1, 3, 10, 12, Tan Binh and Tan Phu. It will help shorten travel time between Ben Thanh and Tham Luong to 26 minutes with a maximum speed of 80km/h.
The project’s investment is estimated at over VND26.1 trillion (approximately US$1.4 billion), including loans from the Asian Development Bank, The German Bank for Reconstruction and Vietnam’s counterpart funds.
