Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, who is also standing deputy head of the National Steering Committee for Civil Defence and head of the front command for response to Typhoon No. 10, chaired the session from Military Region 4.

In his concluding remarks, the Deputy Prime Minister stressed that the forecasting of Storm No. 10 had been accurate and had not led to complacency. The political system as a whole had kept close track of developments at every stage, ensuring that warnings, coordinated responses, and post-storm recovery measures were carried out in a unified manner.

The Deputy Prime Minister urged localities to remain highly vigilant and to provide timely information to the public. He called for close monitoring of meteorological and hydrological forecasts and the development of appropriate response scenarios, particularly as water levels at reservoirs, dams and rivers in Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Thanh Hoa are expected to rise, with many locations potentially reaching Level 3 warning thresholds.

This, he emphasised, is a situation requiring special caution, demanding specific response measures and stronger protection of dyke systems, especially vulnerable sections.

He noted that reservoirs had so far complied well with flood release orders. Given forecasts of heavy rainfall, the Deputy Prime Minister directed that spillway gates be closed immediately to reduce downstream flooding in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh.

He also instructed localities to review damage, stay fully informed of conditions in affected areas, and deploy military, police and local forces to help people repair damaged homes. Priority must be given to families of those who rendered service to the nation, war invalids, martyrs’ families, and households without able-bodied members, as well as to critical infrastructure such as schools and healthcare facilities. For issues beyond local authority, he requested prompt submission for timely resolution.
