The event was co-organised by the Vietnam Women’s Union and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), in partnership with the UK Government.

In her opening remark of the dialogue, UN Resident Coordinator Pauline Tamesis stressed the need to engage youths in crafting their key advocacy messages for human trafficking prevention campaigns.

“We need to act now to create an even more supportive environment for youth-led advocacy, driving social and behavioural change, and assist them in realising their full potential by delivering on the promise of migration,” she stated.

For her part, Nguyen Thi Minh Huong, Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union, pointed out that the popularity of the internet and mobile devices makes it easier for users to access information, improve their knowledge, and develop skills, but also increases the risk that they can become victims of human trafficking.

Given the situation, the association at all levels have accelerated the implementation of many communication and education activities on preventing human trafficking among young people as well as activities to educate on parenting skills to enhance child care and protection.

Participants at the dialogue were updated on the current situation of cross-border labour migration, criminal tricks of human trafficking, support for victims of human trafficking, and policies to protect children from the risk of human trafficking traps.
