According to the joint directive issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance, the adjustment was based on the downward trend in global refined fuel prices, while continuing to adhere to a market-based mechanism under state management.
During this adjustment, the two ministries decided to allocate funds to the Petrol Price Stabilisation Fund from the state budget’s advance sources. Specifically, the contribution level is set at 800 VND per litre (or kilogram) for biofuel, unleaded petrol and mazut, while diesel is set at 1,000 VND per litre.
After the allocation and utilisation of the Stabilisation Fund, as of 3.30 pm on April 9, the maximum retail prices for commonly used fuel products are adjusted as follows:
E5RON92 petrol: no more than 22,344 VND per litre — down 2,393 VND per litre.
RON95-III petrol: no more than 23,543 VND per litre — down 2,993 VND per litre.
Diesel 0.05S: no more than 32,969 VND per litre — down 9,872 VND per litre.
Mazut 180CST 3.5S: no more than 22,613 VND per kilogram — down 1,658 VND per kilogram.
These prices will remain in effect until the next price adjustment period.
The ministries have instructed key petroleum traders and distributors to strictly comply with regulations governing fuel trading and the use of the Stabilisation Fund, while ensuring a stable supply for the market.
In the coming period, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to coordinate with relevant authorities to strengthen inspections and supervision of petroleum trading activities, strictly handle violations, and closely monitor market developments to make timely and appropriate price adjustments, thereby contributing to macroeconomic stability and inflation control.
