The drill drew the participation of police forces, aviation security forces and relevant units.

The drill dealt with a hypothetical scenario in which a group of weapon-equipped men use a 16-seat car to attack the aircraft apron, through the entrance gate of the airport and then kept several passengers and ground staff hostage on board.

According to Pham Tuan Anh, Deputy Director of Noi Bai International Airport, the drill aims to foster skills for the forces working at the airport, improve the command and control capacity of leaders at all levels, and increase the coordination in dealing with an act of unlawful interference among functional forces.

Emergency exercises are held by Noi Bai International Airport biennially, to review the coordination among forces in handling situations of unlawful interference, in civil aviation activities at the airport.

These exercises have helped to provide lessons on training, commanding, and addressing situations of unlawful interference in civil aviation activities; thus completing plans for responding effectively to an emergency at the airport.
