Earlier, EVN conducted field research in the Bach Long Vi island district.
Bach Long Vi Island currently depends on three power generating units with a limited capacity of 34,000kVA which have failed to deliver sufficient power supply for local residents. The power shortages have affected socio-economy development on the island.
Bach Long Vi Island is situated over 100km from the mainland, for this reason, the island cannot be connected to the national grid. EVN have announced they will use wind power and solar power for the project.
After implementing the power project, EVN will ensure sufficient power supply for local residents, serving as a driving force to develop the socio-economy while protecting national sovereignty.
The project will benefit Bach Long Vi’s 1,000 residents. The island district is significant in terms of national security.
To date, EVN has provided power for eight out of 12 island districts, including Van Don, Co To (northern province of Quang Ninh), Cat Hai (northern port city of Hai Phong), Ly Son (central province of Quang Ngai), Phu Quy (central province of Binh Thuan), Con Dao (southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau) and Phu Quoc and Kien Hai (southern province of Kien Giang).
