Exhibition honours Vietnamese traditional long dress

A thematic exhibition themed “Vietnamese Ao Dai Through Historical Periods” officially opened in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province, on May 29.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the Quang Ninh Museum Do Quyet Tien, emphasised that the event exemplified the spirit of cooperation, experience sharing, and leveraging the strengths of museums across the country. The partnership between Quang Ninh Provincial Museum and Hue City Museum of History aims to improve the quality and effectiveness of heritage conservation, education, and communication efforts.

The exhibition not only offers the public a deeper understanding of the historical evolution of the Vietnamese Ao Dai (traditional long dress) but also provides opportunities for residents and visitors to experience traditional cultural activities such as Thanh Tien paper flower making and the tailoring processes involved in making Ao Dai.

The exhibition is presented in a modern format, incorporating digital technologies for explanations, display, and interaction. The entire exhibition space has been carefully curated to ensure scientific layout, aesthetic quality, and suitability for various audiences, serving purposes of education, research, and cultural experience.

This event is a meaningful contribution to enhancing the quality and impact of heritage preservation and communication.

Nguyen Duc Loc, Director of the Hue City Museum of History, shared that through this exhibition, the organisers aim to honour and promote the cultural values and traditional craft products of Hue and Quang Ninh to both locals and tourists.

At the same time, the exhibition conveys a message about the importance of preserving the unique cultural identities of Hue and Quang Ninh.

The event also seeks to strengthen ties among local museums nationwide, starting with the cooperation between Hue and Quang Ninh, fostering a sustainable, creative, and widely connected heritage community in the future.

The exhibition will run until June 15.
