During the programme, the Gia Lai Provincial Border Guard Command formally transferred a "Friendship House" worth 208 million VND and presented the keys to the family of Puih Veu, a disadvantaged household in Po Lon Village, Po Nhey Commune.
The provincial Border Guard Command also donated 20 breeding cows, worth a combined 320 million VND, to 20 disadvantaged households living in border villages in Gia Lai Province, Viet Nam, and Ratanakiri Province, Cambodia.
Speaking at the ceremony, Colonel Ro Mah Tuan, Deputy Political Commissar of the Gia Lai Provincial Border Guard Command, remarked that the provision of housing and livelihood support was a practical initiative that would empower impoverished border families to overcome hardship and secure more stable living conditions. He added that the programme would also further cement solidarity between the armed forces, local authorities, and people on both sides of the border.
Through the programme, the Gia Lai Provincial Border Guard Command aims to heighten awareness among border residents of their responsibility to safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of each country, while fostering mutual trust and cooperation in combating crime, responding to natural disasters, and promoting socio-economic development.
The initiative is also expected to reinforce public confidence in the authorities and border protection forces of both countries and contribute to forging a peaceful, friendly, cooperative, and sustainably developed border in line with the principle of "good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability."
