Gifts and scholarships presented to disadvantaged children in Lai Chau

On November 18, a ceremony to present gifts and scholarships to disadvantaged children in Lai Chau Province was held at the Pa Tan boarding school in Pa Tan Commune, Sin Ho District, in the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

At the ceremony, 100 bicycles, 300 scholarships, and 330 gifts worth 550 million VND were handed over to disadvantaged children with outstanding academic results in Lau Chau Province.

Speaking at the event, PM Pham Minh Chinh hailed that the programme is a meaningful activity, contributing to the care, education and protection of children, especially those in remote and ethnic minority areas.

He emphasised that caring, educating and protecting children is a particularly important task of the entire political system and is the responsibility of party committees, authorities, organisations, unions, and all people.

The Party, State, and entire society attach great importance to this work, considering it as a top priority to ensure social welfare and promote national sustainable development, he stated, adding that many guidelines, policies and laws have been promulgated to realise the task.

He expressed his pleasure that the Lai Chau provincial authorities have gained encouraging results in implementing these guidelines and policies, as well as protecting and caring for local children.

He also took the occasion to convey his thanks to organisations and individuals at home and abroad who have provided support for children, especially those living in difficult circumstances.
