Ho Chi Minh City offers books for tourists

The Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City has offered books to tourists as Tet gifts for the first time, with the message "Open New Books, Welcome New Year".

This is one of the series of activities taking place at the Tet Book Street Festival 2024.

This meaningful and practical programme aims to enrich cultural activities each Tet and Spring while developing the city's reading culture.

Present at the implementation of the programme, Dr. Quach Thu Nguyet, Ambassador of Reading Culture of Ho Chi Minh City, excitedly said that the offering books as Tet gifts highlights the wish that people will flourish intellectually and be enriched with more knowledge.

She was extremely touched when the city implemented this activity, adding that this is a very good initiative of the city government.

According to the organising board, the programme offers more than 16,000 books to readers at Tet Book Street Festival.

At Tet Book Street Festival 2024, visitors have the chance to choose good and valuable books and experience them right at the Tet Book Street Festival to contribute to developing reading culture and promoting the spirit of studiousness, with the motto "books are everywhere" during the country's holidays.

For more than ten years, the Book Street Festival has become a unique and typical cultural event of Ho Chi Minh City every Tet, giving domestic and foreign visitors a springtime destination, and helping promote reading habits in the local community.

With dragon-themed decorations, the annual festival is held on Le Loi Street and covers 11,200 sq.m, more than 3,000 sq.m larger than last year’s event. It features the participation of more than 30 publishers and distributors who will introduce about 65,000 books to visitors.

The Tet Book Street Festival 2024 is scheduled to last until February 14 (the fifth day of the Year of the Dragon).
