The two professors have contributed to fostering co-operation between Hue University and Okayama University in training and scientific research, notably the international postgraduate programme on the sustainability of rural and environmental systems, which has been implemented since 2007.
Prof. Kiyoshi Morita, the rector of the Okayama University, has also carried out many research projects on community development in Hue, and waste treatment and management of natural resources in Vietnam.
As a co-ordinator of the Hue-Okayama Postgraduate Programme, Prof. Doo-chul Kim has built and implemented co-operation programmes between the two universities via scientific workshops, exchanges of students and joint scientific research.
The Okayama University and the Hue University established co-operative ties in 2005 and signed a MoU on tertiary training in 2006. The Japanese university has granted scholarships to many students from Hue University to help them pursue higher education in Japan.
