This year is the first time that the contestants will demonstrate their skills using the 2016 version of Microsoft’s Office suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, instead of the 2013 edition as in previous years.
At the national competition, the organisers will award one first prize, three second prizes, six third prizes, 15 consolation prizes and other individual and collective prizes worth billions of Vietnamese dong.
All contestants will also earn Microsoft Office Specialist certificates, which are signed by the software giant’s chief executive and valid globally.
The three national winners of Word, Excel and PowerPoint will compete at the world championship scheduled to take place in California, US, in early August 2020, where the top three global winners will receive prizes worth USS$7,000, US$3,500 and USS$1,500 respectively.
At the launch of the 2020 contest, the organisers honoured Tran Hoang Anh from Foreign Trade University in Hanoi and Nguyen Luu Hoang Anh from Dinh Thien Ly High School in Ho Chi Minh City for their achievements at the MOSWC 2019.
Tran Hoang Anh won the third place in the Excel 2013 contest while Nguyen Luu Hoang Anh finished fourth in the Word 2013 category.
