Nearly 11 million international arrivals to Viet Nam in the first half of 2025

Marking a milestone of nearly 11 million international arrivals to Viet Nam in the first half of 2025, a year-on-year increase of 21%, digital travel platform Agoda has revealed international tourists’ preferred Vietnamese destinations and listed the most attractive locations in Viet Nam during the first two quarters.

According to Viet Nam’s General Statistics Office, the RoK and China were the two largest source markets in the first half of the year, accounting for approximately 46% of the total number of international arrivals to Viet Nam.

Agoda's data echoes this trend, with the RoK and China maintaining their leading positions among countries sending the most tourists to Viet Nam, demonstrating a consistent appeal from these two markets.

Notably, the Chinese market has seen a remarkable surge, climbing from fourth place in 2024 to second place this year. This reflects a strong recovery of Chinese outbound tourism and Viet Nam’s growing appeal among Chinese travelers.

Additionally, for the first time, Thailand has entered the top five international source markets for visitors to Viet Nam.

Phu Quoc replaces Hoi An in the top 5 most visited destinations in Viet Nam

According to Agoda, the most searched-for destinations by international travelers in Viet Nam in 2025 remained largely unchanged from last year. Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, and Ha Noi continued to hold their top positions.

However, Phu Quoc has risen to replace Hoi An in the top five, highlighting the island’s increasing appeal, thanks to its stunning natural scenery and the growing number of international flights, particularly from Seoul.

Diving deeper into the data, Agoda revealed that tourists from the RoK tend to favour coastal and island destinations. Nha Trang topped the list, followed by Da Nang and Phu Quoc which have been renowned for their beautiful beaches and vibrant seaside activities.

Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City also made it into the top five, offering a harmonious blend of traditional culture and modern vibrancy.

Meanwhile, Chinese travelers tended to favour major cities and island resorts. Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City led the list, followed by Ha Noi with its rich cultural charm. Phu Quoc, Da Nang, and Nha Trang were also among the favorites, thanks to their combination of relaxing, entertaining, and nature-exploring experiences.
