In the rapid transformation of digital media, where technology, artificial intelligence and social networks reshape how people receive information, official journalism faces the imperative to innovate in order to retain its leading role.
At Nhan Dan, this spirit is no longer a slogan; it is evident in every journalistic product, every media event and in the professional mindset of each official, reporter and editor.
“Official—modern—accessible”, the three keywords emphasised by Party General Secretary To Lam during his meeting with Nhan Dan Newspaper’s board of editors on the occasion of the newspaper’s 75th anniversary, have become a guiding orientation throughout the publication’s renewal journey.
For the first time, the Nhan Dan brand appeared on the north–south ‘Happiness Train’, a project jointly launched by Nhan Dan Newspaper and Viet Nam Railways Corporation. It not only created a novel media imprint but also demonstrated a more modern approach by official journalism to public engagement.
Reporter Pham Thanh Thu from Nhan Dan Newspaper’s Media Development Centre noted that the greatest value of the “Happiness Train” lies in bringing Nhan Dan closer to the people, enabling them to directly experience and enjoy positive media values.
“Wherever the people are, Nhan Dan is there” — that spirit is being realised through new practices, rather than merely existing on traditional printed pages.
Nhan Dan’s presence today is no longer confined to the newsroom or printed editions; it extends to interactive technology exhibitions, community campaigns, political-artistic programmes and multimedia digital platforms.
In the fiercely competitive environment of modern media, an article competes not only by the accuracy of its information but also by its ability to communicate and connect with the public.
Nhan Dan Newspaper’s special supplements, anniversary issues and Spring editions receive meticulous investment in art direction, design and visual experience, producing journalistic works rich in cultural and historical value yet still accessible to readers.
According to reporter Thai Linh, competition today is not only about speed or volume of information but also about creative capacity and the ability to touch readers’ emotions.
Therefore, the newspaper considers innovation in presentation a crucial requirement for improving content quality. That spirit is also evident in the cultural activities, exhibitions and creative products hosted by Nhan Dan Newspaper in recent times.
From the exhibition “95 Years: The Party’s Flag Lighting the Way”, to the political-artistic programme 'To Quoc Trong Tim' (Homeland in Our Hearts), to the “Marching Forward with Viet Nam” walking campaign — with millions participating and billions of recorded steps — all demonstrate efforts to renew the ways official values are communicated to the public.
A notable feature of Nhan Dan Newspaper’s renewal journey is that creativity is not confined to content departments but spreads throughout the entire organisation.
According to Vu Mai Hoang, Chair of the Judging Panel for the Nhan Dan Newspaper Innovation Contest 2026, whereas innovation used to focus on professional journalistic outputs, this year’s practical initiatives have emerged in technical, technological and printing departments.
At Nhan Dan Printing Company, technical improvements have been introduced to save time and materials while enhancing production efficiency. In the Technology Department, an automated conversion system from print to digital editions has significantly reduced manual operations and shortened the production cycle for multi‑platform content.
These seemingly small initiatives reveal a major shift in the operational mindset of the modern newsroom: innovation must become the daily work of every department and every individual.
According to Nguyen Hoang Nhat, Deputy Head of Nhan Dan Online Department, the press must innovate strongly to continue asserting that official information remains the mainstream. To achieve that, the press cannot continue to transmit information in the old way.
Official information must be more modern in presentation, closer in approach and easier to understand in order to reach a broad public.
Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor‑in‑Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, and Deputy Head of the Party Commission for Communication, Education and Mass Mobilisation, reported that within a year Nhan Dan organised about 33 major events alongside numerous journalistic products, special pages and large‑scale communication activities.
Renewal is not about following trends but about enabling official journalism to retain its leading role in information, to disseminate positive values and to consolidate public trust in an increasingly noisy information world.

More important than the quantity of activities is the formation of a renewal spirit that pervades the entire organisation.
“Every innovation, whether in journalism, events or technology, contributes to Nhan Dan’s new image,” Minh stressed.
As the global press undergoes profound change under the influence of technology and artificial intelligence, Nhan Dan Newspaper is also preparing for the next transitions of the modern newsroom model. Change involves not only modes of presentation but also content‑production thinking, approaches to audiences and operational methods in the digital environment.
Renewal is not about following trends but about enabling official journalism to retain its leading role in information, to disseminate positive values and to consolidate public trust in an increasingly noisy information world.
The “official—modern—accessible” journey Nhan Dan pursues today is also the path by which revolutionary Vietnamese journalism continues to accompany the nation into a new era of development.
